I learned that even the most random streak of color can turn into a work of art.
Honestly i just got out a lot of different shades of blue, took one of those shades and put it onto the paper. the random stroke turned into something, i don't really know what it looks like exactly, a bird maybe.

For this project i painted the entire sheet of paper black, after cutting it the required size. I then used a white charcoal pencil to
Instead of making borders around multiple of the same object, I made multiple backgrounds around one object. I thought it made the project a lot more enjoyable because I had more artistic freedom. If I were to have done the project as it was intended to be done I most likely wouldn't have tried as hard or done quality work on it.
I really like trees and drawing them, so I drew one on the paper in the center close to the bottom, after dividing the paper into nine sections. I was not about to do this project the was meant to have carried out. Instead of actually drawing myself, which would have required me to look at myself and draw every flaw the eye can see, I used my emotions to create something with meaning instead of making myself feel bad.
Anyway, I ended up painting something abstract that I can't describe with words because it's how I felt at the time of painting it. The random brush strokes represent the jumbled thoughts and unknowing within my head. While I chose colors that I "felt" were how I felt at the time. To start i picked an animal that i liked and would later transform into a letter after pasting newspaper to the paper. I then made an outline of the letter i would use, i chose the letter 'B'. When i was finished with the letter outline i determined where the ears and other aspects of the bears body would go on the letter. After drawing the bear out onto the letter i colored it in with various colored blue pencils because it turned out to look more like a gummy bear than the teddy bear i had originally planned for it to be.
I learned that, as i have done it multiple times before, i am really good at waiting until the last minute to finish/start a project and having it turn out pretty well. i probably shouldn't procrastinate on every project, but at least i actually do and finish the project. While putting in full effort, outside of class that is. Instead of working by myself on this project I had the opportunity to work with Krista. :)
We constructed a graveyard by laying two slabs, one of which we put a tree on. We sat the two slabs together so the tree was a backdrop to the scene we made. In the scene we created a few gravestones, two zombies, as well as two zombie cats. I think the project will look better after glazing. I learned that making small details on small objects is fairly difficult and smoothing out the clay is as well. I also procrastinate during almost every project but Krista kept me on track...most of the time. I probably wouldn't have finished the project if I hadn't worked with Krista. |
